Holter EKG
The Holter EKG is electrocardiogram taken over a 24-hour period while the patient does normal day activities. The Holter EKG differs from a normal EKG because it shows how the heart reacts to the stressful situations of normal daily life over an extended period of time, whereas a normal EKG records the heart's activity over a very brief period.
The Holter EKG is particularly useful for assessing ambulatory patients who report fainting episodes, palpitations, dizziness, intermittent chest pain, or other symptoms suspected of having a cardiac origin that may occur during emotional stress or routine physical activities. |
